The Imperial City...

Look at Constantinople from Galata tower, Pera suburb

Constantinoples, city of Contantine was founded in 330., on the edge of Europe and Asia. It was actually the city erected above the town of Byzantium, which was found by Greek sailors who came to that area before 800 BC. It was said that the very one group who came from the Greek coast of Little Asia, called Ιονία (Ionia) (around Smyrna and Myletos) was led by Byzas, and that's why the name of Byzantion. That's funny, but medieval Latin name for Romeans, "Byzantines", made with rude meaning, is completely satisfying and right. It even strengthens its Greek origin and show us the route where to strive to.
